In the event of a raging fire in a ventilated façade construction, the wooden framework behind may be directly exposed to fire. The contribution of the underlying timber framework to a façade fire must then be as limited as possible. If a ventilated façade construction must comply with fire class B, a fire report of the façade cladding and the battening to which it is attached is required. By treating the timber battens with HOLZ PROF FIRE RETARDANT, the fire classification of the timber facades will improve to class B-s1,d0.
HOLZ PROF FIRE RETARDANT is already widely used in the industrial sector. By entering into a close cooperation with HolzProf, TWEHA has included this product in its product range so that this technology can also be used in façade constructions with wooden battening.
HOLZ PROF FIRE RETARDANT is an eco-friendly fire retardant for complete wood protection.
It is a high quality, water based, flame retardant, designed for the treatment of wood and wooden components in buildings and other structures to become resistant to fire and flame propagation.
WHY CHOOSE HOLZ PROF FIRE RETARDANT?
HOLZ PROF FIRE RETARDANT is highly certified on the variety of wood species: from solid wood (soft- and hardwoods) to plywood, from exotic to modified wood types. All in accordance with EU Regulations and has been approved internationally by accredited laboratories and meets the requirements of the Exova BM TRADA A-Mark and A+ Fire Safety schemes.
HOLZ PROF FIRE RETARDANT complies with the highest fire classification for solid wood:
– Euro class according to EN 13501-1: B-S1, d0
– Classification according BS 476, Part 6 &&: Class 0
– Euro class according to EN 13501-1: Bfl-s1
– Euro class according to EN 13501-2: K110/K210
HOLZ PROF FIRE RETARDANT is colourless and odourless and, if required, can be over-coated with TWEHA WoodProtect or TWEHA Blacken to obtain a black look in the joints between the panels.
The unique patented technology permits HOLZ PROF FIRE RETARDANT to help extend the lifetime of treated wood, transforming it into a more fungal and Blue stain resistant substrate.
Once absorbed into the surface of the wood the fire retardant combines chemically within the cell structure but does not form a surface finish, which allows the wood to breath naturally.
THE RESULT OF THE TREATMENT IS A NATURAL, RESISTANT AND FIREPROOF WOOD WITH EUROCLASS B-s1, d0

HOLZ PROF FIRE RETARDANT APPLICATION
The product is easy to use and does not require a protective finishing coat. It is not harmful for humans, animals and the environment. It is important to follow the directions for use.
The application can be done with brush, roller or spray: usually 3 coats that should be applied at intervals of minimum 1 hour. Or it can be applied by an immersing procedure in tanks or under vacuum conditions in an autoclave.
Consumption: 300 g/m2 (270 ml/m2) on most softwoods and hardwoods, on Western Red Cedar 400 g/m2 (360 m/l per m2) in order to ensure the depth of impregnation of 2,0 – 4,5mm. With the capacity of a 5-liter can, 150 m¹ or 80 m¹ of respectively 19 x 45 or 19 x 95 mm wooden battening can be processed.
The substrate to be treated must be dry, free from dust, bark, paints and varnishes, and from other contaminants.
Do not process frozen wood and do not mix HOLZ PROF FIRE RETARDANT with other products. HOLZ PROF FIRE RETARDANT treated wood does not require any additional protective coat. It can be over-coated where a final decorative finish is required. Before overcoating the substrate must be dry and meet the moisture content requirements of the chosen finishing product. A trial procedure is always recommended before the full final coat is applied.
The drying times are dependent on absorption of the substrate and drying conditions (temperatures and humidity). The approximate drying time is 24-72 hours at +20 C/65 relative humidity.

TWEHA REVIEWS
Check out the most useful reviews written by our relations who are familiar with our expertise, technical support and TWEHA’s adhesive systems.
Due to the prevalent atmospheric conditions, in our country there were severe limitations to the installation of ventilated façade claddings during 6-8 months per year. With TWEHA’s primerless bonding system it is now possible to proceed with the installation all year round, thus offering a great benefit to our professional customers.
Beside the advantages of a primerless bonding system explained in the answer above, it was of great value to us to be able to count with the expertise and technical support of TWEHA which has enabled us to satisfy all the queries received from our professional customers.
I will certainly recommend TWEHA.

In 2019 we were looking at adding a new phenolic resin door style (HPL) to our cabinet line. The phenolic doors and panels are very heavy and our regular Polyurethane adhesives wouldn’t adhere to the surface of the material. TWEHA PanelMate was recommended by our paneling supplier and we are grateful for the recommendation!
We place a lot of faith in the adhesion properties of TWEHA PanelMate. Our panels are 12mm thick and there isn’t a lot of material for mechanical fasteners to attach to. We have to rely mostly on the adhesion of the TWEHA PanelMate in our factory and in our dealer’s installations. We find the drying time and adhesion work perfectly for our application.
TWEHA PanelMate’s testing document gave us great confidence. Great adhesion and durability outdoors. We have sold out a number of jobs in the past two years and have had no returns due to adhesion issues. We have also added TWEHA PanelMate as our adhesive of choice on our online ordering system and almost all of our dealers that order our phenolic door cabinetry order TWEHA PanelMate to use for their installations.

I had the opportunity to cooperate with Tweha company on a couple of projects, all praise, and recommendations. Very high-quality cooperation, and very high-quality products, helped in our work when it was most needed. Note – the products can be applied in conditions below 5 degrees, very important in our business, when it comes to sudden cold weather.
